The French are interested in placing export production capacities in Ukraine
02.11.2016French business is interested in the use of preferences of free agreements trade between Ukraine, the EU and Canada that makes our country attractive for the production facilities location with subsequent export of production to Canada and the EU.
This was reported by Trade Representative of Ukraine Nataliya Mykolska at the briefing in Kyiv on the results of the French-Ukrainian business forum, which took place on the 28th October in Paris.
"Strong interest from the French side was generated by the agreement (On Free Trade of Ukraine - UNIAN) with Canada. It is well known that the EU and Canada have come to the final decision and signed their agreement. We believe that this triangle - the agreement (On Free Trade - UNIAN) between the EU and Canada, the agreement of Ukraine with the EU and the agreement between Ukraine and Canada can come into action, and Ukrainian companies will be able to find their place in the global and regional chains of added value, "- she said.
Mrs. Mykolska also noted that the French and Canadian business has the opportunity to place the production facilities on aggregation of finished production within the territory of Ukraine. It will allow reducing cost of production due to inexpensive labor and not losing at the moment owing to the existing free trade agreements.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU came into force on the 1st January this year. Export of Ukrainian goods to the EU in January-July 2016 increased by 6.7% compared to the same period last year and amounts to USD 6 500 000 000.
On the 19th September Canadian Government submitted for ratification to parliament the agreement on the free trade zone with Ukraine, signed on the 11th July.
The agreement provides asymmetric liberalization of goods markets to protect domestic producers in sensible areas. So after coming into force of the agreement, the Canadian side will open up to 98% of the market, while Ukraine eliminates tariffs for almost 80% of Canadian export of goods, followed by the cancellation of other tariffs for the next 3, 5 and 7 years. In addition, for certain Canadian products were established quotas, and some products were excluded from the agreement.
